Lead Course

Lead Course

Lead climbing is considered a more advanced way to climb. This kind of climbing involves more risk and therefore requires more risk management than any other kind of indoor climbing. It is also an exciting way to climb, and the skills learned in this class give you access to the lead corner - terrain you cannot access by top rope.

This two-session course will teach participants everything they need to know to lead climb at HSCC. The first session will focus on the fundamentals of lead belaying, clipping, and climbing while leading. The second session will refine these skills, cover some advanced techniques, and give participants ample time to practice.

Each session is 2 hours and includes all the equipment you will need.

Participants must be 14 years old or older. Participants must be Top Rope Certified prior to enrolling, must be able to climb 5.10, and will need to be present for both sessions.

Note: This program requires at least three participants. We will contact you to reschedule no later than 24 hours in advance if less than three participants are registered.
